Alan Greenspan was born on the 6th of March, 1926 in New York City. At first, Greenspan had no intention of becoming an economist. He loved baseball, music, and math. He went on to high school and after he graduated attended the Juliard School. But, he soon dropped out to join his friend to play music professionally. After realising this was a bad decision, he decided to persue one of his other passions: economics. He studied at New York University, earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees in economics. He then went on to Columbia to persue a doctorate, but soon decided to join the National Industrial Conference Board, and he soon dropped out of Columbia.

Greenspan then became a partner at the consulting firm, Townsend-Greenspan and Company and later Greenspan is selected by President Ford to serve on the Council of Economic Advisors. He was selected later by Reagan to be Chairmen of the Federal Reserve, where he held the position until 2006.
